Professional experience

Dr Linda Bellamy has a bachelor of science degree in Psychology.  After graduating she spent 10 years in university research and teaching at Leeds, Birmingham and Aston universities.  Subsequently Linda Bellamy moved to consultancy, first managing the Human Factors Unit at Technica (now DNV London), then building up the Human Factors division of Four Elements Ltd (now ERM Risk), subsequently moving to The Netherlands to join SAVE consultants (now Oranjewoud) as a partner, and finally starting her own company, White Queen BV. She has developed a major hazard safety, safety management and human factors expertise and provided consultancy services over the past 27 years to regulators and major hazard industry.

Areas of expertise

Accident analysis, both major and occupational accidents, and the development of analysis tools and methods, identifying underlying causes and underpinning the modeling of risks

Human factors, human error and safety management, especially in relation to evaluating safety critical tasks and emergency preparedness and response

Human factors review for offshore platform design in relation to accident prevention, preparedness and response

Development of tools and models to assist major hazard inspection and incident investigation

Safety management audit design and application

The linking of technical systems, their hazards and scenarios and the human systems which design, construct, operate and maintain those systems

Interfacing in multi-disciplinary projects concerning accident prevention, analysis and risk modeling.

Holistic approach to modeling accident prevention

Example work of Linda Bellamy

Member of the Dutch webORCA, WORM and RAM projects which developed the QRA model for occupational safety in the Netherlands.  Prepared the original proposal for this multi-million Euro project.  Originally responsible for the accident analysis module and developed the tool Storybuilder for this purpose.  The team have now analysed 18,000 serious occupational accident investigations in Storybuilder. See the Storybuilder website  -  www.storybuilder.eu.
